Green Sanctuary Program

at the

UU Fellowship of Midland

The Green Sanctuary Program is a program sponsored by the Seventh Principle Project aimed at uniting congregations to protect the environment.

Green Sanctuary congregations are dedicated to around living out the UU Seventh Principle of "affirming and promoting respect for the interdependent web of all existence" through the celebration and protection of the environment. The Green Sanctuary Program is sponsored by the Seventh Principle Project and provides a framework for congregational study and reflection, plus individual and collective action for responding to that call. The five goals of the Green Sanctuary Program are:

· To build awareness of societal environmental issues among UUs.

· To generate commitment for personal lifestyle changes.

· To motivate UUs to community action on environmental issues.

· To build a connection between spiritual practice and environmental consciousness.

· To build awareness of and rectify environmental injustices.
