    • Shannon Sonoras doing well after surgery  addressing health and wellness goals.
    • Monica Hughes completing portion of chemo in her cancer treatment protocol.
    • Our condolences to Roxanne LaForest who lost a very young nephew.
    • Sara Clavez moving forward this week in addressing health concern.
    • We are saddened to hear of the death of Dottie Mull’s son of Traverse City  in a motor cycle accident and reach out to her in continuing support.

Joys

    • Congratulations to the Cleland Host family . John is starting a new job in the Detroit area while Heather will remain here temporarily with the boys.
    • Joanne Rummel went to the 48th wedding anniversary of a good friend and had the joy of meeting a student she had as a teacher in first grade.
    • Peter and Becky Carlson are proud to announce that their oldest son Aaron is graduating from MSU with a computer science degree. Son Austin will get his driver’s license soon.
    • A warm welcome to Connie Ofori-Dankwa  who is now a member of the fellowship.
    • Tom Bailey thanked the members of the auction team for a very fun and successful Greco-Roman auction evening.

Concerns

  • Pat Callahan commented on the recent Western High school incident and the ensuing race discussions.
  • Monica Hughes is facing additional and stronger radiation treatment . She is thankful for the outreach from friends                      and community.
  • Lisa Catacosinos is concerned about her father who is having health issues.
  • Kevin King is still fighting to get rid of his kidney stone.
  • Shannon Sonoras will have weight loss surgery at Uof M this Monday

  • Andrew Schulz and family left Michigan for spring break in warm Florida.
  • Roxanne La Forest is moving forward on the path of healing after losing Doris, and finding connection with new friends.
  • Denise Riling is happy about her husband Mike’s retirement.

  • The campaign kick off for Sarah Schulz was an amazing experience for Beth Sperry.
  • Roxanne La Forest was happy and very grateful for the nice memorial service for Doris.
  • Mary Johnson reported that she is making good progress in her recovery after knee replacement surgery.
  • Linda Rector, who had foot surgery a few days ago, is also doing very well and is currently at Brittany Manor for rehab.
  •  Elspeth Hetrick found out that her son is dealing with some learning disability.She is glad she got help and is learning how to respond to him in a positive and correct manner.
  • Shannon Sonoras feeling better after some sick days.
Sorrows
  • Heather Cleland-Host is recovering after a hard fall hitting her head on a hard surface. She was diagnosed with a mild concussion.
  • Codi Aymer sadly reported they lost their beloved dog due to a car accident.

  • Dot Hornsby remembers the birth of her first son Mark – 1961 in Charlotte NC.

  • Amy Rogers reported that Mary Johnson is doing well after knee replacement surgery.
  • Judy Donahue  liked the letters to the editor, written by several fellowship members and published in the MDN

  • It was certainly a joy for Tom Bailey when he met his wife Gisela 23 years ago this month.
  • Dave Letts is appreciative of all that the Florida Parkland students  are doing after the horrible school shooting .

  • Shannon Sonoras commented on the hardship that some families are experiencing  after their homes got flooded again recently.

Joys

  • Donna King joyfully shared the good results from her latest MRI in a addition to welcoming a new nephew into their family.
  • Heather Cleland-Host was relieved that son, Connor, is able to attend a new school program for autistic children and is doing really well.
  • Linda Rector had her appointment at the Neurology  department at U of M and is elated that she received good news and now will be able to schedule her foot surgery.
  • Shannon Sonoras mentioned that a good time was had by all at the Friday Euchre FUNdraiser Party at the Fellowship.

Concerns

  • Rowan Cleland-Host was concerned for the cousin of a teacher who is facing serious health issues.

Joys

  • Brandy’s son turned 2.  She didn’t think she could have children.
  • Donna King was diagnosed March 15.  She has a new MRI on Monday.  She needs good juju.
  • Tom Bailey thought he had the flu.  He didn’t. He is better.
  • Amy announced that it is Mary Johnson’s 30th wedding anniversary.

Joys

  • Kevin King expressed his joy to be able to participate more in the Fellowship after Donna’s long recovery.
  • Melanie Willison was able to finally sell her house.
  • Shannon Sonoras  placed a stone of gratitude for the first month of hospitality team success.
  • Tom Bailey is glad to be back, but he and Gisela, together with Vicki Rothhaar, had a great trip to to Costa Rica
  • Amanda Clifton enjoyed watching her daughter, Aurora, perform in the State cheer leading competition.

Sorrows

  • A cousin of Pat Munt passed away at the age of 47 in Toronto. He was a well known chef of a 5 star restaurant.
  • Jacob Guettler is concerned over the harassment of some gay friends.
  • Gisela Bailey remembered her dad’s passing 10 years ago.

Joys

  • Elspeth Hetrick shared that her son is turning 6.  At birth, he had multiple problems and his future looked difficult.
  • Marjorie Bower spent a month with her daughter and had a great time.
  • Sara Clavez had a meeting for interim.
  • Jozef Bicerano is closing on the house in Savannah this week.  They are moving February 22.
  • Roxanne LaForest wants to thank Rev. Connie and others who have been helping her since Doris’ passing.
  • Kathy Kinkema is happy for Women’s Movement and Gun Sense Movement.
  • Sarah Schulz is happy for the Sister March and her decision to run for 98th District House Seat.
  • Bill Raymond attends here and in Traverse City.  He had a great moment with his 35 year old son, Bill, and treated him to breakfast and he brought breakfast for the man behind him.

Sorrows

  • Denise Reiling, Holly Wallace’s Mother, felt it was a joy to be here.  She wanted to be here with Holly and she is sad she is not here.

  • Beth Sperry fell two weeks ago and didn’t break a bone thanks to Sara Clavez’s Bone Saver Exercise Class.
  • Shannon Sonoroas got into ACS class.
  • Maxine Guettler celebrated working 30 years at the hospital
  • Joanne Rummel got a golden retriever puppy.

Sorrows

  • Dan Sealey lost a good friend, Gary Barker, a colleague in teaching.  He also lost a cat.
  • Shannon Sonoras reported Roxanne LaForest’s partner, Doris, passed away January 3.

  • Jill Haver Crissman and her husband Jim are celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary.
  • Tom Bailey announced that a third grandchild will be arriving in 2018.
  • Shannon Sonoras reflected on having spent a joyful Christmas season and looks with optimism towards the future.

  • Congratulations to Evelyn and Jon Lipowitz who celebrated their 57 th wedding  anniversary on Christmas day.
  • Kathryn Hay is proud of her husband Sandy taking on and experiencing new responsibilities.
  • Roxanne La Forest felt happy that a family member initiated contact again after many years.

Sorrows

  • Greg Lopez and his family are here from Denmark visiting his mother and sister over Christmas. Sadly, his mother had to be admitted to the hospital with pneumonia.

  • Evelyn Lipowitz shares that ANITA FRYE is with her son and family in Boulder CO this holiday season . Will continue to divide the year among family (CO,PA,NC).
  • Bernice Shelegey will be here for the holidays, returning to AZ for the winter and readying the property there to sell.
  • Kurt Sonoras is looking forward to completing a training program for service manager of rental properties.
  • Vicki Rothhaar announced the engagement of her oldest son Kurt to future daughter in law Maria.
  • Shannon Sonoras enjoyed driving a bus full of second graders to the MCfA, including her daughter Megan

Concerns

  • Monika Hughes spoke of a death in her extended family .
  • John Kinkema’s much admired father in law passed away recently.
  • Heather Cleland-Host related that her son Adair had to stay home with the stomach flu and unfortunately was missing the children’s pageant today.

Joys

  • Karen Roth proudly announced that her son JJ is graduating from Western University with a combined degree in Musical Arts and Computer Sciences.
  • Cody Aymer is enjoying a Sunday at the fellowship after an extended absence due to the birth of son Vinnie.
  • Andrew Schulz is thankful to be able to lead the choir today in it’s annual Christmas celebration. What a joy for the whole congregation!

Concerns

  • The sister of Maxine Guettler,who is struggling with health and other problems, will be moving in with Maxine on a temporary basis.

Joys

  • Linda Rector is looking forward to be able to extend her therapy for  a past  brain injury.
  • A friend of Kevin King will be paying classical guitar at Delta College.
  • Laura Clifton was excited over 2 nd place at her school’s cheer leading  competition, and the family’s lost kitty was fortunately found.
  • Amy Rogers move to a new apartment went very smoothly with the overwhelming help from fellowship members.

  • Maxine Guettler is worried for her sister who has health concerns.
  • Thomas Bailey is concerned for his brother’s health as well.

  • Barb Rajewski’s sixth grandchild , who was born recently, had some medical problems, but is doing well now.
  • Amy Rogers will be moving to a different apartment on Friday, December 1.  Anyone who can help with this process is encouraged to contact Vicki Rothhaar, as she is helping to coordinating the move (839-9856).

  • Margie Bower shared that a former member, Jack Dickenson, passed away recently.
  • Please keep Patricia Callahan and her family, especially her father, in our hearts and thoughts as they grieve the loss of Patricia’s mother.

  • Katie Guettler has a new job at an animal clinic and is thoroughly enjoying it.
  • Heather Cleland-Host attended a great UU conference this past week.
  • Carolyn Mahaffey encouraged anyone who can to assist Amy Rogers with her move to a different apartment on December 1.
  • Tina Garret is progressing with her recovery from knee surgery.  She also reported that her daughter has a new job.

  • Jon & Heather Cleland-Host shared their concern that Jon and several other scientists were laid off from their place of employment this past week.

  • Jacob Guettler thanked everyone for the clothing contributions given to
    The Ruth Ellis Homeless Shelter in Detroit.
  • Melanie Willison’s daughter, Charlie, is in Sweden giving a presentation
    to the World Health Organization as part of her doctoral program.
    Margaret Wilson thanked everyone who has helped her during her
    recovery from a broken foot.
  • Dotty Mull had two of her nieces visit this weekend.
  • Roxanne LaForest plans to contact congregation members to check on
    their well being.
  • Scott Hughes reported that there was a large gathering last night for
    the Ancient Shores/ CUUPS celebration.
  • Lisa Catacocinos reported a good turn out for the Improv group at the
    Creative 360 Center last month. The group will be performing at the
    Grape Beginnings Winery on Saturday, November 11.
  • Tom Bailey and others from the Fellowship spend part of the day
    yesterday picking up donations for Midland Area Homes.

Sorrows

  • Maxine Guettler stated the October was a very stressful month with
    her sister-in- law passing away and other family concerns.
  • Amanda Clifton expressed sadness in her family with the passing of her
    husband’s grandfather.

  • Judy Donahue attended the WOMEN’S convention along with Sarah Schultz.  It was a very inspiring and uplifting gathering.
  •  Heather Cleland-Host thanked Monica Hughes for organizing a wonderful Halloween party for the children.
  • Dotty Mull thanked all those who sent cards and called during her recovery from a recent injury.
  • Megan Sonoras thanked everyone for the Nepal Project contributions.
  • Jill Crissman is participating in the initiative to change the redistricting process and hopes everyone who hasn’t signed the petition to place it on the ballot will do so.

  • Evelyn Lipowitz reported that Dottie Null had a slight fall but is ok besides bruises and a broken finger.
  • Sarah Schultz enjoyed spending time with and supporting a group of local high school students who are standing up and speaking out on racial injustice.
  • John Cleland-Host had fun taking Kaedon on his first hunting trip.
  • Craig Murchison is happy that he and his wife can move back into their home after Midland’s flood.

Sorrows

  • Mary Johnson passed on that Darla Laquinta’s sister, Kelli, passed away.  She also learned that a former boss had died.
  • Jacob Guettler’s aunt passed away.
  • John Cleland-Host reported that 10% of employees at the Hemlock Semiconductor plant will face lay offs.
  • Sarah Schultz commented on the ugliness and the hate that students had to face when standing up for social justice.

  • Kevin King and Donna had much fun visiting their children Avery and Chloe at CMU’s homecoming.
  • Hannah Nelson adopted a new kitten named Todd.
  • Jessie Parham  happily gave up her job and is thinking about going back to school.

Sorrows

  • Beth Sperry expressed her sadness about the wildfires in northern California, and is glad her friends are safe.

Joys

  • Sara Clavez thanks Cindy & Jacob for work on the AIDS walk.
  • Dot Hornsby helped her friend who fell and has injuries.
  • Josef Biscerano’s son-in-law has had interview for green card.  There’s no decision yet.
  • Roxanne LaForest is able to come back to services now.  She was gone due to financial concerns.
  • Beth Sperry has been back in Midland now for 2 years.

Sorrows

  • Jacob Guettler’s grandmother moved to an apartment complex (for seniors.) She was in her own home for 19 years.
  • Kathy Kinkema feels sorrow for Las Vegas but is appreciative of this community for strength.
  • Amanda Clifton’s friend died this week due to violence.
