President-Elect: Monica Hughes
Monica Hughes has been a dedicated member of UUFoM since first attending and joining the congregation in 2014. She has taken on several leadership roles, including serving as Co-Leader of the Covenant of the Unitarian Universalist Pagans, being a member of the Worship Team, and previously working as the Director of Religious Education (DRE) and on the Religious Education (RE) Team.

Monica’s decision to join UUFoM stemmed from her desire to find a welcoming, non-judgmental space for her family. She appreciated the sense of community and the quality of the children’s programs at the Fellowship.

Originally from Arcadia, Florida, Monica moved to Beaverton, Michigan, when she was 10 and later relocated to Midland at 19. She and her family have been living in Freeland, Michigan, for about three years. Monica is married to Scott Hughes, and together they have three children: William, Adrianna, and Rosalinn.

Looking to the future, Monica dreams of UUFoM growing its presence in the wider community through events and outreach. She also envisions the Fellowship becoming more eco-friendly by incorporating solar energy and using native plants. Monica is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Work, building on her Bachelor’s degree in Business.

Treasurer: Jim Stewart
Jim Stewart first attended UUFoM around 2000 for a brief period but began attending more regularly in 2022. He became a member of the Fellowship in 2023.

Since joining, Jim has been actively involved in the congregation, serving as a member of the Finance Committee and contributing to the Vision-Mission  Task Force. His decision to become a Unitarian Universalist was driven by a desire to find an alternative to traditional organized religion, and he appreciates the sense of acceptance that UU offers.

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Jim now lives with his wife, Cathie. He chose to become a member of UUFoM to help support the organization and its mission.

Nominating Committee Member: Susan Mayer
Susan Mayer began attending UUFoM in the spring of 2018 and officially became a member in the fall of that year. She is an active participant, serving on the Worship Team and chairing the Social Justice Team. Her journey to Unitarian Universalism stems from her belief that no single religion holds the sole truth, and she values the insights of various faiths.

The fellowship offers her the support needed to explore her spiritual path. Susan was already involved with the UU community before relocating to Michigan, and UUFoM became her congregation due to its proximity.

She is married to Mike, and they have two children and four grandchildren residing in Ohio. Additionally, Susan has a brother and sister in Minnesota.
