September 9
“Ingathering Sunday” We'll bring together the waters that symbolize where we have been over the summer and what we all bring to this religious community. Please bring a vial of water from your travels near or far (or from your own backyard). This is a worship service for all ages! Rev. Connie Grant speaking.

Six Thursday evenings, October 4 – November 8, 7:00 – 8:30 pm.
Minimum 6 participants registered by September 30.
What do you believe in, not just in your head but in your life? As Unitarian Universalists, we formulate our belief statements in terms of credo (“I believe”) not creed (“we believe”), and our “beliefs” are meaningful as they are reflected in our lives. Our stories are among our sacred texts, and we are responsible for developing our own beliefs in light of our own experience and conscience. This workshop is designed to help participants figure out what they believe about some theological questions such as the meaning of life and death; the nature of human beings; and our place in the universe). Led by Rev. Connie Grant. Register here or on the Events bulletin board.

GOVERNANCE & INFRASTRUCTURE
|
|
|
Our parking lot will be under construction until October 1st. Help us avoid tracking dirt into the building by taking your shoes off as you enter the building. Please leave your sox on and store your shoes in the coat room. If you prefer, feel free to bring slippers or a pair of "indoor" shoes.
This will help save our carpet! Thanks for your consideration. Building & Grounds and Aesthetics.

|
At long last, excavation work for the parking lot project has begun! The project will extend through early October, after which we should have a smooth paved surface with fresh yellow lining, plus a total of six handicap spaces.
While the project is underway, we ask that everyone obey all signs and safety barricades, and beware of trucks and heavy equipment. Make sure to especially monitor any children who may visit the area.
The project work will occur only on weekdays. We may end up parking on a gravel lot for several Sundays, but the work activity shouldn’t require cancellation of any church business.
Here’s what to expect:
- In mid-August two new rainwater catch basins will be installed in front of the Fellowship, with a 6-foot deep ditch dug to install a pipe connecting them. This phase will require blocking off much of the area in front of the Fellowship building.
- Additional activity will occur sometime in August or September, when a paver crew becomes available to grind the old asphalt layer on the entire parking lot.
- Final paving will be done over three days in late September or early October. During these weekdays the entire parking lot will be closed, but the driveway will not be affected so we’ll ask patrons to park on the grass adjacent to it.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Tim Wagner or Roy Wedge.

NEW! Social Activities Team
|
|
Do you enjoy throwing parties? Do you like organizing events? If you answered yes to either of these questions, then you may be interested in the new team for social events here at UUFoM.
We are looking for people who are enthusiastic about bringing people together for community and fun. Perhaps you can plan a game night or a barbecue or a fancy tea party. The possibilities are endless. If this sounds like a group you would like to be a part of, please reach out to Reverend Connie, Shannon Sonoras, or another member of the Engagement Team!

Would you like to strengthen your connections with others at UUFoM and enhance your participation in the Fellowship, while deepening your own spiritual life? Join a Covenant Group!
A Covenant Group consists of up to ten people who gather around an interest, affinity, or activity to meet regularly over time for spiritual growth, community building, and congregational participation. Group members practice deep listening as they share what’s going on in their lives, getting to know each other and themselves. Group meetings follow a specified format, and each group is led by a trained facilitator who also participates in an ongoing facilitators’ group. Each group establishes covenants including ground rules for the group’s relationship and interaction, commitment to welcome new members to the group, and service to the Fellowship and the community.
More information about current Covenant Groups can be found on our website.

Minister's Discretionary Fund
The Minister’s Discretionary Fund was established so that members of the congregation can help others with emergency financial needs, for example to pay a utility bill, buy groceries, or cover a car repair or other critical expense. The minister maintains an overview of needs in the congregation, and uses judgment to make equitable and appropriate distribution. If you or someone you know has an emergency need for financial assistance, please contact Rev. Connie Grant. If you wish to make a donation to the fund, please make a check payable to Minister’s Discretionary Fund and give it to Rev. Connie Grant.
Hospitality Groups
Sunday morning hospitality in September is provided by the Pine Group.
Organized by the Engagement Team, hospitality groups are made up of UUFoM members and friends who are asked to help with such tasks as making coffee, bringing snacks, and cleaning up the kitchen; ushering (including passing out orders of service and receiving and counting the offering); and helping the Welcome Team greet people as they come in the door, with special attention to visitors. Current Hospitality Group listings are on the website. Don’t see your name and would like to be in a Hospitality Group? Contact Shannon Sonoras, at [email protected] or 989-708-5348.
Announcements
The Announcements insert in the order of service is intended to summarize and serve as a reminder of upcoming activities. Please email [email protected] with items to be included in the Announcements insert. Spoken announcements during the Sunday morning worship service need to be brief, of relevance to the entire congregation, and approved in advance by the minister. From the Worship Team
